WHY HOME-MADE IS ALWAYS THE BEST

Even high quality " bought" baked goods rarely taste as good as their   home-made equivalents and they never have the home-baked aroma. Just read the list of ingredients when you next pick up a plain sponge cake or a chocolate cake at a supermarket !!!!! You will soon realise that there is much more to a commercially made cake than you realised. FIRSTLY there is an overload of sugar (this is done to bulk up the product and reduce production cost) and because sugar helps to prolong the shelf life of goods. SECONDLY the fats used in commercial baking are of the less healthy type - margarines and fats  that are termed as trans fats. Research has shown that trans fats pose many more risks to health than saturated fat (the kind found mainly in dairy products and meats).
THIRDLY AND THE MOST OVERLOOKED  - COMMERCIALLY MADE ITEMS CONTAIN A SUBSTANTIAL LIST OF ARTIFICIAL ADDITIVES - PRESERVATIVES, FLAVOURINGS AND COLOURINGS. IT IS BELIEVED THAT  MANY OF THESE ADDITIVES CAUSE BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS AND ALLERGIC REACTIONS IN SUSCEPTIBLE CHILDREN.
FOURTHLY  commercially made goods seldom contain large quantities of nutritious ingredients such as wholegrains, fruits, nuts seeds and so on........just to keep costs down.

WHEN YOU BAKE CAKES,  BISCUITS, ETC AT HOME  'YOU'  CAN CONTROL THE PROPORTION,  INGREDIENTS AND THE METHOD. 'YOU' CAN ALWAYS USE HEALTHIER FATS IN SMALLER QUANTITIES AND LESSEN THE QUANTITY OF SUGAR.  YOU CAN 'ADD'  PLENTY OF PLUS FACTORS TO MAKE YOUR BAKING MORE NUTRITIOUS. AND THE BEAUTY OF IT ALL WILL BE THE FACT THAT IT WILL TASTE WONDERFUL AND EVEN COST LESS !!!!!!
