HEALTH AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
There are certain facts of which we may all be familiar.....but still do not incorporate into our daily habits......these can have far-reaching results if we consciously try to introduce them - one by one - slowly and steadily - till they simply become a part of your daily routine. I shall try to ennumerate them, and even in the future when i add to them, they will have a running number.
1. Eat 5 naturally different coloured foods (not fruits)every day...red, yellow, green, purple, white. The more vivid the colour the better its phytochemical content (I do not mean adding red food colouring, etc)
2. Do not remove any type of food from your diet.....that is an all protien diet may help you lose weight initially but it can have very bad long term side effects. Carbohydrates may be cut down to lose weight but not eliminated totally. Fats may also be cut down but never eliminated. Switch to good fats like olive oil, sesame oil, home made clarified butter and add stock to cook foods that need to be fried like fish, boneless chicken, etc. It works very well if you grill or bake them with a little bit of soup AND ONE TEASPOON OF YOUR CHOSEN FAT. VANASPATI LIKE DALDA, ETC WHICH ARE HARD AT ROOM TEMPERATURE ARE CONSIDERED TO BE BAD FATS AND ARE GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS TRANS-FATS.
3. THE BEST AND ONLY SAFE WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT ON A CONSISTENT BASIS IS TO SERVE YOURSELF A FULL PLATE OF FOOD THEN TAKE A FORK AND DIVIDE THE FOOD INTO 2 EQUAL PORTIONS...............REMOVE ONE HALF AND ONLY EAT THE OTHER HALF. THIS ONLY WORKS WITH VERY STRONG WILLED INDIVIDUALS BUT LET ME TELL YOU..........ITS THE ONLY SUREFIRE
WAY. YOU MUST EAT ALL TYPES OF FOOD BUT YOUR QUANTITY HAS TO BE HALVED. THIS IS THE ONLY RECIPE IF YOU WANT TO LIVE TO A RIPE OLD AGE AND IN GOOD HEALTH.
4. ANOTHER IMPORTANT FACTOR IS TO INTRODUCE A LITTLE FIBRE INTO EVERY MEAL.....i.e. BREAKFAST , LUNCH & DINNER.
FRUIT & VEGETABLE SKINS CONTAIN FIBRE, GREEN VEGETABLES
AND WHOLE LENTILS (WITH SKINS) ARE A GOOD SOURCE TOO.
THE JOB OF FIBRE IS MANIFOLD - IT CLEANS OUT YOUR INTESTINES ; IT SLOWS THE ABSORPTION OF FOOD (VERY IMPORTANT FOR DIABETICS) WHICH IN TURN KEEPS SUGAR LEVELS UNDER CONTROL. IT ALSO HELPS CURTAIL CHOLESTROL.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT REASON TO MAINTAIN FIBRE IN YOUR DIET IS THAT IT HELPS YOU FEEL FULL LONGER .
BUT AS WITH EVERYTHING......IT SHOULD NOT BE HAD IN EXCESS....AS THAT WOULD ENCOURAGE MORE MOTIONS...WHICH WOULD THEN HAVE ITS OWN SET OF PROBLEMS.
5. WATER....THE ELIXIR OF LIFE. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT LONG TERM DAMAGE THEY CAN INFLICT ON THEIR BODIES BY SIMPLY NOT DRINKING ENOUGH OF IT. ALL THE TOXINS THAT ACCUMULATE IN OUR ORGANS LIKE SKIN, KIDNEYS, LIVER, URINARY TRACT CANNOT BE ELIMINATED FROM OUR SYSTEMS BECAUSE WATER IN WHICH THEY ARE CARRIED OUT IS SCARCE. SO THEY KEEP ACCUMULATING IN OUR BODIES. NEED I GO FURTHER ? Go drink that extra glass right away !!!!!!!!!
